To publicize my book, I created my own YouTube video. Has anyone else done so yet? I'd love to hear how you did it and see your link!

I used Adobe Premiere Pro. At first it was very difficult, but after watching some helpful YouTube videos about creating videos with Premiere Pro, it was surprisingly easy. Ironic, huh? Anyway, I had my son (16) do the music. He plays electric, acoustic, & bass guitar for our church's youth worship band. He also plays the drums and some piano. So, he whipped up a new sound for Beethoven's Ode to Joy. I filmed the same girl that I used for my cover to portray the main character walking/running away in the woods. I then used some of the illustrations that I drew for my book and put some fun fade ins to separate them.

    Here's what it looks like:

    Hi M.C.,

I did a book trailer. I uploaded about five or six versions to youtube before my darling husband made me leave it alone! I got the music from Incompetech. The pictures are in the public domain and are actual pictures from the Great Depression except for Jay, my granddaughter, and her little brother. The little brother is my son around that age. LOL I had fun making it. I was told trailers should be around a minute and a half. Mine is a little over two minutes. I used Windows Live Movie Maker. For image manipulation I used Photoscape which is a free download.

While a book trailer sounds cool, I just don't see myself making one any time soon. Do you feel that it helped with sales?

For the other about my YA fantasy here's a link to my channel: http://www.youtube.c...awnelamb/videos

    Cool, Shawn. Great job!

I only had one problem with it. Who are the "they"? I don't know who your protagonist(s) is/are. Besides that, wonderful job!

The Huguenots. "The Huguenot Sword", refers to a group of freedom fighters withing the Huguenots. This is a story of religious struggle of Protestants (Huguenots in French) vs Catholics.

I need to figure out how to change the thumndail this is my first trailer. I don't have time now but I will come back and watch your trailers. I do think that a trailer helps to sell a book. I don't have numbers to prove it, but I know if a book trailer is good it helps me to decide if I want the book.

I understood that. :) Do you have some characters who are Huguenots? Most readers can't relate to a large group.

Like I said, though, I love the trailer!

lol, Shelia. To be honest, you're the first one who asked that question. Most assume the 3 arms and swords are used to represent the smaller cast of characters against the larger Protestant - Catholic conflict them. I have the trailer posted on the excerpt page of my website right beside the cover, backjacket blurb and Chapter 1 excerpt. ww.allonbooks.com/huguenot_sword.html

One reviewer said The Huguenot Sword is like the 3 Musketeers, Scarlet Pimpernel and Zorro in one book. :)

I've done one book trailer. Can't say whether or not it's helped sales. I suppose if I'd done a better job setting up affiliate links I could track the sales it may have generated, but I'm not that organized!

Gotta have the sound on for this one:

You can't change the thumbnail, unfortunately. It is set by YouTube on a certain percentage of the trailer. I know. I've tried.
